Team Canada Gets Pounded by the US

In the second of a four game set in North Carolina, Team Canada was bested by Team USA in a route 7 to 2. Starter Brooks McNiven was not outstanding in his start, however, he was not helped by the Team Canada infield.

Indians prospect Nick Weglarz left the game after one inning. He did not record an at bat, but did make two put outs in left. The first put out was a can of corn fly out with an easy throw to the infield. The second put out occurred on a collision with center fielder Adam Stern on a fly ball to the warning track. Weglarz was slow to gain his feet and did not return to the game.

The official Team Canada box score is below:

Similar to the results of Friday night, Team Canada's bat's were relatively cool. The team failed to get runners on base although with the 5 runners they did get on base, 2 scored-which is very important.

David Davidson has been impressive thus far. The 24 year old, who is the property of the Pittsburgh Pirates has put together 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball. He has not allowed a hit in these innings while striking out two and having one run score (unearned). He has a funky left handed delivery and should be one of the best players in a relatively deep and experienced Team Canada bullpen.

The next game is Sunday at 5pm.
